I wrote this poem based on the character in the image The aberration which was drawn by Meltin
We did this for a contest for im-not-sana. Meltin's faces are amazing, and well worth a look, as well as his other art work. Contest or no contest, it was pure enjoyment working with him and creating a poem and a face that worked with each other.
As a teacher, I've also dealt with students who on the outside may not be beautiful but have clean and wonderful souls and an inner beauty that shines through their outward appearance. I love them all equally, but must confess to a special soft spot for those who are less than perfect and have little achievement outside of my class.
We are all beautiful in our own ways, regardless of how we look...
I came across this after seeing the drawing on the artist's site. Despite how much I like that drawing I'm tempted to agree with him on his judgement of this. It struck a chord with me and I found it quite moving. For that happy moment I thank you.
I thought this was a pretty sentimental portrayal of the feelings of less-then-perfect person in a society obsessed with the superficial.
I think, you could have done more with the imagery and the flow. Used stronger words, more balanced and sentence. ALso, if i may suggest, the last line would have had more effect as "I dream you dream and want your wants"
